Golf 103: Intimidation
Much feedback has been received and many golf games have been radically changed because of the free golf lessons on this blog. So, back by popular demand, here is free golf lesson # 3:
Many golfers (both beginner and expert) often ask me the question, “Austin, in your golf expertise, what would you say is the single most important technique to master before one can become a world-class golfer?”
Well folks, here is the answer you have long been waiting for. It is plain and simple. Intimidation.
Intimidate the Ball: That ball needs to know who its daddy is, and YOU are the one responsible for telling it! If the ball isn’t going where it’s supposed to go, it’s probably because somebody (you!) has not laid down the law of who is in charge. Don’t be fooled, that ball knows exactly where its home is. The best way to get the message across that you mean business: Take a ball out of the bag and throw it as hard as you can into the water hazard on hole 3.
Intimidate the Club: Just like the ball needs to know who its daddy is, the club needs to know who’s calling the shots. This technique is where most people mess up. Most people wait to intimidate their club until the middle of the afternoon when after a bad shot, they take their club and hit it against their cart (or tree, or anything else hard) causing it to snap in half. Although this technique is effective, it is not the most efficient. I am here to introduce to you not only the most effective, but also the most efficient way to intimidate your club.
Before you even tee off on hole 1 for the afternoon, take each club out of your bag, hold them across your right (or left) knee and push on each end of the club as if you were going to bend it in half. As you push on the club, growl and grunt (like a bear) as loud as you possibly can. Please see Figure 1.1 for an illustrated example of this:
Intimidation is the key to a good golf game.
Wait a second….do you smell that? I do. It’s called total and complete domination, coming to a golf course near you!
You’re Welcome.
Austin W.
