Rain

We’ve had a little bit of rain the past few days here in Lubbock, which has made for some interesting sights and adventures.  Yesterday as I was driving down University Avenue I’m pretty sure my 1995 Chevy Lumina went afloat for about 10 seconds as I was passed on my right by a student in an inner tube (true story).  As for sights….well, see for yourself:

It’s a little wet out there so if you live in Lubbock and are out and about, take some swim trunks, a life preserver, inflatable raft (optional), and some trail mix.  As for the football game tomorrow (Texas Tech vs. SMU), well…

…Michael Phelps will be swimming for his 9th gold medal at halftime.  On a more serious note, I think the water gives us a pretty solid home field advantage. (The following photo was taken during football practice yesterday)

Pirates vs. Miniature Horsies…..can horsies swim?  Maybe we should flood the field for every home game, except for when we play TU.  I hear Bevo is pretty good at swimming…..or maybe that’s beavers….hmm?

Thankfully, the rain has stopped and things are clearing up here in Lubbock.  As I write this, my thoughts and prayers are with those experiencing Hurricane Ike in southeast Texas and Louisiana.
